Welcome to the D.C. Everest School District

Everest receives donation of Kohler engines

WESTON – D.C. Everest Senior High School senior Andy Schmidt couldn't wait for the class to open the box. "This is really cool," he said, pulling a small engine out of a box after school Feb. 3 at D.C. Everest Senior High School.

The school received 24 engines through a donation from Kohler Engines in Kohler. The company donated 1,000 7-horsepower engines, used in machines such as lawnmowers and snowmobiles, valued at $210 each to schools in the state. The donations were administered through the Fox Valley Technical College Foundation.

"It's just been really exciting networking with the high schools and getting to know the instructors," said Dale Drees, lead instructor for the outdoor power equipment program at Fox Valley Technical College.

John Glynn, tech ed teacher at D.C. Everest, said the $5,000 donation will mean better education opportunities for his students. "Before, we got engines donated from local businesses, so in a class of 20 students, you could have 20 different engines," Glynn said. "Now, each student will have the same engine."

Schmidt said the new engines are in much better condition than the school's previous engines. "You know these all work," he said, patting one of the new engines. "Otherwise, you spent all your time trying to figure out what was wrong (with the old engines)."

Aaron Hoffman, career and technical education coordinator for the D.C. Everest Area School District, said students having the same engine also will help save the district money and time. "If one engine goes down, you have an extra and all the parts are the same," he said. "We won't have to scrounge for parts."

Kindergarten Registration

A child is eligible for kindergarten next fall if he/she is five years of age on or before September 1, 2012. Be sure to register your child at your neighborhood attendance school during the week of January 30 – February 3. You will need your child’s birth certificate and immunization record.

Approximate school boundaries and school address/phone info.

Your child's birth certificate is needed to officially register,
so please be certain to bring it, along with
your child’s immunization record.

Registration will take about 30 minutes, and your kindergarten-eligible child need not be present to register. You may print the necessary forms below and complete them before you come to register your child, but you must register in person. You may not mail or email the forms. Forms are also available at the schools.

2011 Band Info

On November 3-4, during our two days off from school, eight young DCE musicians were hard at work in Madison performing in the Wisconsin School Music Association Honors Project.

These students auditioned last year and were chosen from over 2,850 other auditioning students from the entire state to play in honors ensembles at the Middle or High School level. Each of the ensembles prepared and performed a concert that was held during the Wisconsin Music Educators Association State Conference in Madison October 26-29. The concerts were awesome and attended by audiences of over 1000 people!

It is impressive to see such musical talent and dedication that these D.C. Everest students represented at the State level, not to mention the support and encouragement from their parents and instructors.

Please congratulate the following very talented band and orchestra students from the D.C. Everest School District:

Middle Level Band
Steven Beda Trombone
Chris Cornish Trombone
Sam Erickson Tuba
Maya Jourdan Clarinet
Patrick Phalen Percussion
High School Band / Orchestra
Zach Finnegan Trumpet
Steven Nicklaus String Bass
Darien Woller String Bass

Our school district is also well represented on the staff of the State Honors Music Project. Brenda Zimmerman, D.C. Everest Middle School Band Director is the clarinet coach for the Middle Level State Honors Band and Lisa Phalen, D.C.
